3D Printed residential houses – no myths, only reality.
Eindhoven Technical
University is intended to 3D print five houses with concrete during five years.
The printed property objects will be bought by a real estate company to deal
with management and renting issues.
The first
house is expected to be completed in 2019. It is designed to be only one-story
biulding with three bedrooms. After the first 3D printed house is successful,
four multi-level houses will be built to the west of the Eindhoven city center,
near the airport.
The
developer plans to construct houses one after another to embody new experience
in each subsequent building and remediate deficiencies. To begin with, the
elements will be printed at the university, but the goal is to ultimately move
all the activities to the construction site. According to the team, the final
house will be fully printed and assembled locally.
According
to the preliminary design, the houses will feature curved concrete walls,
hinged balconies and deep-set windows and doors. From this perspective, printed
real estate can blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Irregularly
shaped building can be created due to one of the key features of 3D printing -
the ability to implement almost any author’s idea.
